Basketball: Kendall elevated to North Hall boys head coach

GAINESVILLE — North Hall Athletics Director Sam Borg didn't waste any time searching for a new boys basketball coach.

Three days after Tyler Sanders stepped down to take the Lakeview boys job, Borg found the next head coach already apart of the program. Miles Kendall, an assistant coach under Sanders, was elevated to head coach on Friday.

“Coach Kendall has the character and passion for the game that we want leading our boys,” Borg said. “We can’t wait to see our gym full of fans with Miles leading our troops on that sideline.”

Kendall has been an assistant coach at North Hall since 2017. Prior to that, Kendal not only played basketball at Piedmont College in Demorest but coached there as well from 206-09. After his stint at Piedmont, he worked under then-Habersham Central girls basketball coach John Hood for eight seasons.

“It feels awesome to be the head coach of the North Hall boys basketball team,” Kendall said. “This place feels like home. I love this community, and being here is an honor. I'm very excited to get back to work with these young men.”

Kendall said Sanders has left the program in great shape and is ready to continue to build the program.

“This program is in a great situation due to the commitment and hard work of Coach Sanders," he said. "Going into my fourth year with the team, I already have a great deal of knowledge of the returning players. I think this team will continue to progress and be playing excellent basketball by the end of the season. We will compete night in and night out like no other.”
