By AccessWDUN Staff

Recent Gainesville High School graduate Camryn Banks is the latest recipient of the GHS Alumni Scholarship.

The $2,000 scholarship, which was established by the GHS Class of 1964, is awarded to a Gainesville High School graduating senior based upon superior academic achievement, exemplary leadership skills, extracurricular participation and financial need. Past scholarship recipients include Rentavious Buffington from the Class of  2018 and Caitlin Pirkle from the Class of 2019.

"Receiving the GHS Alumni Scholarship proved to me that someone saw all of my hard work and accomplishments,” said Banks. “I did things I thought I’d never do such as become Co-President of the President’s Club, President of the A.W.A.R.E Gents Club, and a Senior Representative on Student Council. Knowing the GHS Alumni Scholarship committee unanimously selected me to be the recipient gave me the validation that I had an exemplary high school career. It taught me that I can be a role model, and for that I am so grateful to the scholarship committee.”

Banks plans to attend Morehouse College in Atlanta where he plans to major in Business Administration and minor in Pre-Law.  He wants to pursue a career as a business attorney or a defense attorney.

The GHS Alumni Scholarship is distributed through the North Georgia Community Foundation,
