A private contractor installing fiber cables in the Lula area Tuesday hit a water main, and the accident has impacted water supply for all water customers in the city.
A boil water advisory was issued Tuesday afternoon and will remain in place until further notice. Any tap water should be boiled for one minute prior to use for cooking or drinking to avoid contaminants that may be in the water.
Water customers may also notice water loss and low water pressure until the main can be fully repaired.
City of Lula officials said customers will be notified via social media and the city website when the advisory is lifted.
