Gainesville Police are on the lookout for a suspect accused of armed robbery in an incident on the north side of the city on Tuesday night.
The robbery took place at the Walgreen's on South Enota Street around 11:00 p.m.
"A male suspect entered Walgreens and brandished a handgun at three employees inside the store," the department said in a social media post. "The male suspect was described as a black male, about 5'7" or 5'8", wearing a face cover, all black clothing, gloves, and a black/gray backpack."
The suspect then reportedly approached an employee, grabbing them by the hair, and demanded all employees walk to the back of the store. Police said the man was brandishing his firearm throughout this incident.
"He made the employees fill his backpack with an undisclosed amount of narcotics," the post said. "The suspect went to an office area of the business and stole an undisclosed amount of cash."
Gainesville Police Chief Jay Parrish said after the robbery that he was thankful no injuries were reported.
"We are fortunate no one was harmed during this traumatic experience," he said "No amount of money or valuables are worth the life of anyone in our community, and we must continue to work together to stop these criminals from terrorizing our community."
The department is continuing to gather information regarding the robbery and suspect. Anyone with relevant information is asked to call the Gainesville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 770-535-3783.
