The PGA Tour seems to have it figured out when it comes to COVID-19 and, perhaps, the Georgia High School Association and its member schools should adopt the same policies.
Initially, the Tour called for a minimum of a 10-day self-isolation period for a player who tested positive for COVID-19. It also added a test-based model for asymptomatic cases two weeks ago. That policy allows players and caddies who had tested positive to return to the course after two negative tests 24 hours apart and no symptoms.
The Tour said it will keep the test-based model for asymptomatic players and will add a symptom-based model. Both models are outlined by the Centers for Disease Control.
In the new symptom-based model, players can return to play if they meet the criteria: At least 72 hours have passed since recovery (resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and improvement in respiratory symptoms) and at least 10 days removed from when the symptoms first appeared.
