A Gainesville man died in a single-vehicle traffic accident in White County Monday morning.

SFC Auston Allen, Commander of Georgia State Patrol Post 6, identified the victim as Jake Chambers, 36.

Allen said Chambers was traveling westbound on Skitts Mountain Road when he tried to negotiate a right curve east of Mason Drive.

"[Chambers' vehicle] traveled across the roadway and off the left shoulder," Allen wrote in an email statement. "[The vehicle] began to overturn as it traveled down an embankment...vaulted over its front end, coming to an uncontrolled rest upside down."

Allen said Chambers was wearing his seat belt, but did not survive the crash. No one else was in the vehicle at the time.

The deadly accident was reported at 7:22 a.m.

The Georgia State Patrol and the White County Sheriff's Office investigated the crash.
