Gainesville delays downtown streetscape road closure

By AccessWDUN Staff
With rain in the forecast, City of Gainesville officials have postponed the closure of a section of Green Street for the ongoing downtown streetscape improvements project.

The closure had been set to start Monday, Aug. 31 and continue until Monday, Sept. 14.

"We will continue to monitor the weather, along with our contractor’s progress, and hope to have a new schedule determined by the middle of next week,” said Gainesville Public Works Deputy Director Matt Tarver in a Friday afternoon press statement.

The work along Green Street is part of Phase 2 of the project. Once rescheduled, Green Street – between Washington and Spring streets by the federal courthouse – will close for two weeks to allow for utility improvements.
