Frank Norton, Sr., a Gainesville man who spent decades in the insurance and real estate industry in North Georgia, died Tuesday at the age of 92.
Norton, Sr. is the second of three generations to operate The Norton Agency. Following his graduation from the University of Georgia, the youngest son of W.L. Norton, Sr. joined the company in 1952, 24 years after his father opened the doors of the business.
"Together they expanded the business’s focus beyond insurance to developing and selling residential communities throughout the area, as well as managing quality real estate properties," reads a biography on The Norton Agency website.
Over the years, Frank Sr.'s wife Betty and his sons Frank, Jr. and Bob joined the agency, as well.
The company is based in Hall County, but under the elder Norton's leadership, the company built a network of offices in Gwinnett, White, Habersham, Forsyth, Lumpkin, Fulton, Cobb and Dekalb Counties, as well as Birmingham, AL.
Norton, Sr.'s involvement in the community translated into accolades for his professional and philanthropic contributions. Not only was he a founding a member of Lakeview Academy in Gainesville, but he also was a longtime member of Kiwanis International and a past chairman of the Board of Trustees from the Quinlan Art Center.
A private internment will take place in the Methodist columbarium, according to information on Frank Norton, Sr.'s obituary. A celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date.
Memorial Park Funeral Home-Riverside Chapel is in charge of arrangements. You can read the complete obituary here.
