Duluth man charged with killing his neighbor

A Duluth man is being charged with the death of his neighbor after accidentally firing a gun into her apartment.

The shooting occurred at an apartment complex on McDaniel Road in Duluth on September 25. Carlether Foley, age 36, was taking a nap when she was shot and her teenage son found her later in the day, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Her neighbor, Maxwell Williamson, age 22, was handling a gun when it accidentally discharged and went through their shared wall. Williamson faces charges of felony involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct. He is being held at the Gwinnett County jail without bond.

Foley was an aspiring actress. Her family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses, including returning her body to Texas for burial. Funds will also help to relocate her teenage son.
