DAHLONEGA — Cooper Scott's breakout performance helped lead Lumpkin County past Gilmer, 32-30, last week.
The junior signal-caller rushed for 150 yards on 22 carries and two touchdowns and passed for another 82 yards and a score in the win. It was the first region win since 2018, the first back-to-back win streak, and the first opening region win since 2016.
The Indians' offense came alive with 370 total yards, most of which came on the ground. The Indians opened the second half on a 12-0 run and a 26-16 lead, which paced them to the win.
