DAHLONEGA — North Hall scored all it needed to in the first quarter to stroll past Lumpkin County, 37-7, on Friday at Cottrell Stadium.
Kevin Rochester led the Trojans (5-2, 3-0 Region 7-3A) with 117 yards on seven carries and two touchdowns, including back-to-back scores in the first quarter.
But the Trojans used their rarely used passing game to get on the board first. Bradford Puryear hit Jeremiah Telander on a 53-yard strike with 10:45 left in the opening period. Luke Brown's kick gave the Trojans a 7-0 lead.
That was the begging of the 24-point quarter for the Trojans that included a Brown 45-yard field and Rochester's pair of touchdowns -- a 22-yard run and a 64-yard run.
North Hall added its second passing score of the game with 6:56 left in the first half when Puryear found David Garrison on a seven-yard pass. The Trojans walked into the field house at halftime in control, 30-0.
Ethan Little scampered 50 yards for the Trojans' final score of the game with 6:56 to go in the third.
Lumpkin County's Mason Sullens, who finished with 62 yards on six carries, scored the Indians' lone touchdown on a 19-yard run with 7:21 remaining in the game. Cooper Scott was 14-19 passing with 97 yards to lead the Indians (2-5, 1-1 Region 7-3A).
