By AccessWDUN staff

A woman from Franklin County was killed Monday afternoon in a traffic accident at the intersection of Georgia 17 Bypass and Memorial Drive in Stephens County.

Troopers from Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa investigated the accident, which was reported just before 1:15 p.m.

The investigation showed Shonda Hart, 35, of Canon was traveling north on Memorial Drive and failed to stop at the intersection with the Georgia 17 Bypass. Hart's SUV pulled into the path of a Lincoln Town Car being driven by McKayla Adams of Loganville. When Adams' vehicle struck Hart's vehicle, the SUV overturned multiple times. As a result, Hart died from injuries she suffered in the crash.

Troopers also said a third vehicle driven by Evelyn Leadbetter of Toccoa was caught up in the accident. Adams and Leadbetter were not injured.

Troopers said there were no passengers in any of the vehicles involved in the accident.
