BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. — Gunner Stockton tossed a one-yard touchdown pass to Tate Ramey to break the state passing touchdown record on Friday in a 56-14 win over Union County at Mike Colwell Memorial Stadium.

The win also captured the Wildcats (9-1, 4-0 Region 8-2A) eighth-straight Region 8-2A championship.

Last week, Stockton tied former Clemson and current Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawerence's 161 passing touchdown record. Lawerence set the record while playing for Cartersville.

Stockton now owns the record with 166 passing touchdowns. He tossed five touchdowns -- one-yard to Ramey, a 20-yard pass to Baxley O'Brien, an 86-yard pass to Jaden Gibson, a nine-yard pass to Lang Windham, and a five-yard pass to O'Brien. Stockton was 17-of-20 for 301 yards.

Windham led the ground game with six carries for 153 yards and three touchdowns. Rabun County outgained Union County, 509-146.

The Wildcats scored at will in the first half with 28 points each in the first and second quarters. Windham pushed the Wildcats ahead, 14-0, on runs of 25 and 74. After that, Stockton threw four straight touchdowns over the next eight minutes to go up, 35-0. Windham added his third rushing touchdown on a 16-yard run with 2:39 left in the first half.
