Former Congressman Doug Collins of Gainesville has added something new to his resume' - he's now a published author.
His book The Clock and Calendar: A Front-Row Look at the Democrats' Obsession with Donald Trump provides an in-depth look at the impeachment hearings against former President Trump. At the time, Collins was one of the top-ranking Republicans in the the U.S. House of Representatives. He said he has special insight on the proceedings that others don't.
"I knew that this event...would be the trigger for a lot of reporters, a lot of folks to write their impressions of what went on - most of which [would be] written at a distance," Collins said. "I wanted people to understand what I saw first-hand."
Collins told WDUN's Mitch Clarke on Monday's edition of Newsroom that he was privy to comments from powerful Democrats that others did not witness.
"There are discussions [in the book] of my conversations with Jerry Nadler [House Judiciary Committee Chairman]...that give a reader something that they're not going to get in other books," Collins said.
Collins contends the impeachment hearings were part of a vendetta against Trump for derailing the Democrats' plan to elevate Hillary Clinton to the White House in 2016.
