The birth mother of a baby who died in Forsyth County earlier this year is now facing charges in the case.
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office confirmed the arrest of Andrea Sue Hitchcock on a single charge of reckless abandonment of a child under the age of one resulting in death.
Authorities said Hitchcock is the birth mother of the baby boy.
Last Friday, Caitlyn Swinks and Nathaniel Gravely were charged with involuntary manslaughter, child cruelty and drug offenses tied to the death of the infant. The baby was found unresponsive in a bed occupied by the two adults on June 2, 2021.
Investigators have not released further details in the case.
