One person transported to Grady after Hall County fire

A male patient was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta after a structure fire in Hall County Thursday morning.

The fire was in a small outbuilding - about 100 square feet in size - off Driskell Drive. Hall County Fire Services Division Chief Zach Brackett said the building was heavily involved in fire when they arrived. The patient was removed from the building by a responding Gainesville Police Officer.

"Patrol officer on routine patrol came across a structure fire. The officer called the fire into dispatch and realized that an injured party was needing to be evacuated," said Liuetenant Kevin Holbrook in an email statement. "The officer helped the subject to a safe location away from the fire."

The fire was quickly extinguished, and Brackett said the Gainesville Fire Department offered automatic aid.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Hall County Fire Marshal.
