So far in the NASCAR Cup Series in the 2021 season, all of the experts have been wrong, as a trio of non-favorites have made it to victory lane.
The latest name to add to that list is William Byron, who dominated the final segment of Sunday's race at Homestead-Miami Speedway to grab his second career series victory.
Our Hard Left Turn crew breaks down Sunday's race, including:
-Byron drove around battling Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex, Jr., and went on to record the victory at Homestead.
-Tyler Reddick came close - very close - to making it an even more unexpected winner, as he was closing fast in the final laps on Sunday.
-Despite having the only car that could keep up with Byron, Truex, Jr. had to settle for a third place finish. Where did the early speed from Toyota go?
-For the first half of the race, Roush Racing flew the flag high and proud for Ford, with Chris Buescher winning the first segment while Ryan Newman battled inside the top 10. But they faded in the final segment.
-Hey, did anybody notice that Michael McDowell scored his third straight top 10 finish? We did!!!
-Plus we'll look at the latest news items and preview this weekend's race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
