For the fifth year running, Lake Lanier Olympic Park will host the City of Gainesville's Food Truck Friday events.
In fact, the first Food Truck Friday on March 12 marks the beginning of the city's 2021 event season.
After his first foray into the event in 2020, which was hampered a bit by the coronavirus pandemic, Lake Lanier Olympic Park Special Events Manager Eric Larsen said he’s looking forward this year's festivities.
"We have great vendors eager to come back and some fun new additions," Larsen said in a press statement. “It really is a great way to wind down the week with a relaxing evening on our plaza.”
The 2021 season begins at 5 p.m. on March 12, and then the series will run once a month through August, with events scheduled April 9, May 14, June 11 and Aug. 13.
Larsen said the following food trucks are expected at the March event: Tap It Growlers, offering beer and wine; Downtown Drafts, also offering beer and wine; Bill’s Grills on Wheels, offering American classics; All Around The World, offering world fare; Let’s Taco Bout It, offering saucy tacos, loaded nachos and fries; Sherry's Bait & Barbecue, offering smoked and sauced barbecue; Pass the Plates, offering flavorful pitas; Frozen Frenzee, offering refreshing shaved ice; and Juke N Jive Creamery, offering creamy, melt-in-your-mouth scoops of ice cream.
Gainesville-based Dave Anderson Band will take the stage from 6-9 p.m. The band caters to all music lovers with a diverse set of original songs, as well as countless classics, whether it’s Memphis soul, Nashville chicken pick'n, smooth R&B, Motown or classic Southern rock.
Since the pandemic is ongoing, those who attend, including vendors, will be encouraged to wear masks or face coverings, unless eating or drinking; practice social distancing; and wash/sanitize their hands often.
To encourage social distancing, tables – and sanitation stations – will be spaced out throughout the venue, offering attendees the opportunity to enjoy their food and/or beverage, but safely.
Advance private lakeside seating, which includes a table on the grandstands with seating for six, is available for a $35 fee. eating is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are available at this link.
