The Anderson Independent reported the fatal crash happened the afternoon of Thursday, April 1 on Seneca Creek Road in Seneca, South Carolina when Caleb Matthew Griffis struck a pickup truck that was turning into a private driveway.

The newspaper said Griffis was wearing a helmet, but he was thrown from the motorcycle during the collision. He died about an hour after the accident at Oconee Memorial Hospital.

Griffis, a 2019 graduate of Tallulah Falls School, was a current student at Clemson University. An obituary from Hillside Memorial Chapel & Gardens in Clarkesville said Griffis was studying Economics and Financial Management at Clemson. He was attending college on an Army ROTC Line Scholarship. A funeral service for Griffis is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, April 5 at Level Grove Baptist Church in Cornelia.
