North Georgia Tech names Savage new campus police chief

David Savage will assume the role of Chief of Campus Police at North Georgia Technical College beginning April 16.

Savage has been employed as a police officer with the college since 2018 and previously served as Interim Campus Police Chief, according to a statement from NGTC. Savage’s additional experience includes 37 years in law enforcement with previous positions as Deputy Sheriff of Banks County and Deputy Sheriff of Jackson County.

Savage is a graduate of North Georgia Technical College and the Clayton County Regional Police Academy.

“As an alumnus of North Georgia Technical College, David continues to be a great ambassador of the college,” NGTC Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Mike King said in an announcement. “He will continue to be a familiar face across the campus as he and the officers will work to maintain and strengthen the rapport with our students, faculty and staff.”

"We are proud to have David serve as Chief of Police," NGTC President John Wilkinson in a statement Tuesday. "His prior service to our college and his background experience make him an ideal candidate for this position, and knowing he was once a student here makes his promotion very rewarding for all of us at the college."
