A K9 officer that spent seven years serving the Gwinnett County Police Department has died following a cancer diagnosis.
K9 Zane died Friday, May 14, according to information released Tuesday by the department. K9 Zane had been part of the force since May 2014.
K9 Zane originally was assigned to work with K9 Officer P. Tremblay, but was transferred to Cpl. A. Carlyle in 2019 when Officer Tremblay was activated by the U.S. Military.
During his career, K9 Zane had 443 K9 deployments, 42 patrol apprehensions, 49 narcotic apprehensions and 52 evidence recoveries.
