Traffic on West Academy Street will be prohibited during overnight hours until further notice, according to information released Tuesday by the City of Gainesville. However, the road will remain open from May 28-30 for Memorial Day weekend.
The section of the street between Green Street NE and Northside Drive/Main Street will close to thru traffic from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily as downtown Gainesville construction continues.
The City of Gainesville advises drivers to watch for utility workers and equipment in the area during this time.
