Delta coronavirus strain found in Georgia

A new variant of the coronavirus is causing concern globally and has now been discovered in Georgia. The strain was first discovered in India and has been affecting Great Britain to great degrees.

The good news is that the strain, called the “Delta” variant, does appear to be suppressed by the vaccine, according to an interview conducted by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Those greatly affected in Europe were not vaccinated. Those who are fully vaccinated, or that have had both shots, are not as susceptible to the spread. They are finding that only one shot has not been sufficient in stopping the new variant.

The news that cases have now spread to Georgia came the same day the White House also raised alarm about the latest strain. Leaders used the opportunity to again urge everyone to get vaccinated.
