Dawson County: Man wanted on assault and child cruelty charges arrested

Dawson County Sheriff Jeff Johnson said Evander "Van" Benjamin Berry, wanted on assault, battery and child cruelty charges, has been arrested.

Johnson did not give details on the circumstances of Berry's arrest.

The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s helping in locating a man wanted for battery and child cruelty charges. On Thursday, a Facebook post from the Sheriff’s Office released a photo of Evander Benjamin Berry, who goes by the nickname “Van.”

The Dawsonville man is wanted on charges of aggravated assault, four counts of battery, and three counts of cruelty to children. The Sheriff’s Office referenced an incident that occurred on Wednesday, June 16 but did not give any details as to what happened.

Berry was last seen in the area of Gold Mine Rd., but also has family in Lumpkin County. He is 23 years old and is described as having brown hair and green eyes. He is 6’3” tall and weighs 185 lbs.
