The 22-year-old man who drowned in Northeast Georgia's Lake Hartwell has been identified by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources as 22-year-old Armando Esteban Sanchez Martinez.
The incident was first reported to local authorities at 5:50 p.m. Sunday, July 4.
"Georgia game wardens responded to a reported drowning on Lake Hartwell at Big Oak day use area," said DNR spokesman Mark McKinnon in an email statement. "Upon arrival, they learned that the victim had been recovered by witnesses, who performed CPR until EMS personnel took over, but they were unable to revive the 22-year-old male victim."
McKinnon said Monday evening that MArtinex was a native of Greer. S.C.
