Anna Ruby Falls to close for several days for trail repair

By AccessWDUN staff

The popular Anna Ruby Falls Recreation Area in North Georgia will be closed for several days during the month of August so repairs can be made to fencing along the interpretative trail to the falls.

Officials with the U.S. Forest Service /Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests said the the split-rail fence along the trail needs to be repaired and some sections replaced.

Because the .8-mile trail leading to the falls is so heavily-used on a daily basis, the fence that borders the trail is a major safety feature for the recreation area, which is located in Helen.

Anna Ruby Falls will be closed to the public on Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the month beginning Aug. 10. Repairs should be complete by Aug. 31. Normal operations will resume on Sept. 1, and the site will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily for the remainder of the year.

Anna Ruby Falls lies in the heart of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest and has become one of the state’s premier scenic destinations for tourists and locals alike. Curtis and York Creeks converge and form twin waterfalls at a height of 150 feet and 50 feet, respectively, creating an amazing natural phenomenon in the North Georgia Mountains.
