Details need to be ironed out, but the Hall County Commission is prepared to vote this week on a resolution to give incentives to any county employee who gets a COVID vaccine.
Hall County spokeswoman Katie Crumley said at Monday afternoon's commission work session the resolution will be ready for a vote Thursday night.
"Between now and Thursday, we'll be looking at what amount of money we will do for the incentive, eligibility requirements, deadlines, that type of thing," Crumley said.
Crumley said county staff has been in communication with other organizations - such as Northeast Georgia Health System - to determine how to coordinate an incentive plan for employees.
She said she believes any incentive plan would be retroactive, available to employees who have previously been vaccinated against the virus.
"It's safe to say we're looking at what a lot of other organizations are doing and I do know that a number of theirs [plans] are retroactive, so there's no need to reinvent the wheel if it's already out there," Crumley said.
Based on information included in the resolution structure, which was part of Monday's online agenda, funding for the vaccine incentives would come from federal dollars provided under the American Rescue Plan.
The Board of Commissioners is making the move as COVID hospitalizations at NGHS facilities reach the same level as was reached during the first COVID surge in April 2020. Doctors have said this fourth surge in cases likely will not peak until the first or middle of September.
