By AccessWDUN Staff

Target plans to build a new supply chain facility in Lawrenceville, according to an announcement from the Georgia Department of Economic Development and Partnership Gwinnett.

The 367,060-square-foot facility will be located at 2520 Riverside Parkway.

"It’s a pleasure to see Target expand within our world-class logistics ecosystem of companies," said Pat Wilson, Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner. "I thank their team for their further investment in Georgia.”

Gwinnett County Commission Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson also applauded Target's economic expansion into the area.

"Target has long been a part of our community, and the decision to further invest here by bringing their last-mile facility to Gwinnett County is great news," Hendrickson said. “Gwinnett County already has a strong business climate, so adding Target’s supply chain facility to our portfolio further strengthens our reputation for being a great place to do business.”

While there was no information released about the number of jobs the new project might create, Lawrenceville Mayor David Sill said he knows the economic impact will be a plus.

“Lawrenceville, Gwinnett’s county seat, is the perfect choice for Target’s last-mile facility. We look forward to the positive impact it will have on jobs and services in our community," Sill said.

Devon Cason, Director of Business Retention and Expansion represented Partnership Gwinnett in conjunction with the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Metro Atlanta Chamber, Electric Cities of Georgia, and Ryan Construction on the project.

The announcement about the project was made Thursday, Aug. 19.
