Habersham Co. burn victims airlifted to burn center in Atlanta

Two workers were severely burned at the rock quarry on 1090 Double Springs Rd. in Habersham County this afternoon.

Habersham County Emergency Services and the Demorest Fire Department responded to the 911 call this afternoon.

Upon arrival, Air Life requested to respond with two aircraft due to the severity of the burns. The patients are being transported to the burn center in Atlanta. 

No information is available regarding their present condition. 

According to Habersham County Emergency Services Director Chad Black, the only information provided regarding the cause of the incident was that it could be related to a pipe or device being cleaned when the accident occurred. 

OSHA will be notified and they will handle the investigation since the accident occurred at a workplace.
