The Gainesville Jaycees have announced they are seeking nominations for the 2021 Young Man of the Year and Young Woman of the Year awards ahead of the Jaycees' annual banquet in March.
According to a press release from the Jaycees, the community is encouraged to submit nominations of young leaders in Hall County who have achievements in leadership and service. Nominations will be accepted through Jan. 31, 2022.
The winners will then be named at the Gainesville Jaycees' annual banquet at 6 p.m. on March 10 at the Chattahoochee Country Club.
Candidates must not turn 41 before Jan. 1, 2022, and must meet all other qualifications listed in the nomination form. More information about the awards and the nomination form are available on the Gainesville Jaycees website.
Nick Bruner, the 2020 Young Man of the Year winner, said the awards mean a great deal to the community.
"It really just celebrates volunteerism ... this award has been around for decades and really has some prestige," Bruner said.
The Young Man of the Year was first awarded in 1945, while the Young Woman of the Year award got its start in 2001. The award aims to honor deserving young men and women, while also inspiring the community to pursue civic service.
