Gainesville police release name of woman found dead Thursday

Gainesville Police have released the name of a woman found dead in the city on Thursday.

In a social media post, the police department said Kimberly A. Johnson, 41, of Gainesville, was found dead along a public utilities access road off Dorsey Street near Pearl Nix Parkway.

Police reportedly received a 911 call about an unresponsive woman just before 10 a.m. Thursday. Emergency personnel responded and pronounced Johnson dead at the scene.

A manner of death has not been released by authorities, but an autopsy has been scheduled.

Anyone with information on the death of Johnson is asked to call 770-534-5251.

A death investigation is currently being conducted by the Gainesville Police Department in the southern end of the city.

Socials media posts made by the department say the investigation is taking place along a public utilities access road off Dorsey Street near Pearl Nix Parkway.

Any locals who may have seen anything suspicious in this area are being asked to contact 770-534-5251.
