A dozen Northeast Georgia-area teams in the Georgia High School Association, GIAA and GAPPS will begin the Road to Georgia State on Friday.
The GHSA has split the first-round playoff action into two days, with Class 1A, 2A, 4A, and 6A playing on Friday and Class 3A, 5A and 7A on Saturday.
Gainesville, North Forsyth and Rabun County play on Friday at home, while East Jackson and Union County are on the road. In GAPPS action, Lanier Christian is on the road, as is Lakeview Academy in GIAA.
On Saturday, Buford, Dawson County, Jefferson and Lumpkin County all play at home in the first round.

Blessed Trinity at North Forsyth- This one has a defensive feel right off the bat. Blessed Trinity is giving up just over 16 points per game, while the Raiders allow 18. Both offenses are right at 30 ppg. BT has a balanced offense, rushing and passing over 1,000 yards this season. North Forsyth has leaned on its passing game, led by West Roberts, to get the job done. Sprayberry at Gainesville -- Gainesville is on a roll right now, and that roll should continue Friday at City Park. Gainesville has been a machine lately, proving they can rally back to win and blow out teams. Big Red's offense has been clicking, averaging 38 ppg, and the defense has been on lockdown, giving up 11 ppg. while giving up just 11. That's bad news for the Jackets. Sprayberry can score but struggled to find paydirt against the top-3 teams in Region 7-6A. The Red Elephants should get their first playoff win since 2015.
