Despite a slight increase in gas prices across Georgia, the state continues to have the cheapest gas in the nation. According to the AAA Weekly Fuel Report, Georgia’s state average went up 4 cents this week, making the average $3.16 on Monday morning.
The increase is 10 cents less than a month ago and 9 cents less than this time last year. “Yes, gas prices have increased in Georgia, mainly due to demand ticking up across the state and fluctuating oil prices,” said Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman. “How high pump prices will increase remains uncertain.”
While gas in Georgia slightly increased, the national average decreased by 3 cents to $3.77. AAA says that fluctuating oil prices have kept some states from seeing an increase in prices, despite a slight increase in demand for crude oil. “Tighter supply and robust gasoline demand would typically push pump prices higher; however, fluctuating oil prices have limited price increases in some states.”
In Northeast Georgia, Habersham County has the cheapest gas at $3.05 on average. Banks County has the highest prices at $3.20.
