JEFFERSON, Ga — Jefferson has found its next head football coach.

The Board of Education is set to approve Oconee County head coach Travis Noland to become the Dragons' 20th head coach Monday afternoon.

Noland will replace Gene Cathcart, who left to take a job in his home state of South Carolina earlier this month.

While at Oconee County, the Warriors made the playoffs in each of Noland's eight seasons, including back-to-back state title game appearances across two different classifications in 2019 and 2020.

Noland was 70-27 with three region championships at the Watkinsville school.

Before Oconee County, Noland guided Stephens County to the playoffs eight of his nine seasons -- quarterfinals in his first season -- and a 73-30 overall record with three region titles.

Noland has 189 wins over 24 seasons in Georgia. He led Clyde Erwin High School (9 seasons) and Tuscola High (2 seasons) in North Carolina, compiling a 46-32 record.
