A Dawsonville man faces up to six months in prison after pleading guilty Wednesday to a charge related to his role in last year's U.S. Capitol insurrection.
Benjamin Harry Torre, 24, also faces a fine of up to $5,000 in the case, which resulted in a misdemeanor charge of illegally demonstrating inside the U.S. Capitol.
Torre reportedly entered the Capitol building through a broken window, with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporting he then made his way to the office of Oregon Democratic Sen. Jeff Merkley.
Torre originally traveled to Washington, D.C., with his family in order to attend the "Stop the Steal" rally, and later told FBI agents he was following former President Donald Trump's orders to "peacefully march to the Capitol."
Court documents reported by the AJC revealed that Torre admitted to agents that the situation "got a little heated" when the crowd eventually reached the Capitol.
The ninth of Georgia's nineteen defendants in the ongoing January 6th investigations, so far, the AJC reported that Torre was arrested one month after the insurrection after being identified in a photo that had been circulated around social media.
The extent of Torre's punishment will be fully known when U.S District Judge Rudolph Contreras imposes a sentence in July.
