A visitor to Tallulah Gorge State Park died Friday afternoon.
“This afternoon, Georgia game wardens, along with Habersham and Rabun SAR teams, responded to an unresponsive person call on the floor of Tallulah Gorge,” said Mark McKinnon, spokesman for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division. “Upon arrival, they learned that an adult male had collapsed and was face down in the river. CPR was administered but was unsuccessful.”
McKinnon identified the victim as 62-year-old Michael Joseph Pergola of Slidell, La.
