Superintendent Woods seeks 2022-2023 Student Advisory Council

Georgia State School Superintendent Richard Woods is seeking students in grades 10-12 to serve on his 2022-2023 Student Advisory Council.

“Each year, as I make decisions that impact students across the state, my Student Advisory Council serves as an irreplaceable resource," Superintendent Woods said in a press release from the Georgia Department of Education.

The duties will involve meeting with Superintendent Woods to discuss the impact of state policies in the classroom and other education-related issues.  The council will serve as the Superintendent's ambassadors to their respective schools.

“Meeting and learning about each council member and seeking their feedback, opinions, and perspectives allows insight for all Georgia Department of Education leadership and staff to make the best possible policy choices," Superintendent Woods said.

The Student Advisory Council will meet four times in person during the school year; meeting dates are listed in the application.

To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in a Georgia public high school (including charter schools) for the 2022-2023 school year as a sophomore, junior, or senior. Virtual learning students are still considered enrolled.

Applications must be submitted by September 9, 2022, at 5 p.m. Late applications will not be accepted.  Click here for applications.

Selected students will be contacted via email. All students may visit gadoe.org/studentadvisory on October 11, 2022, at 10 a.m. to determine if they have been selected.
