Governor Brian Kemp as well as the Georgia Department of Economic Development announced Tuesday that Georgia has earned the rank of number one state to do business in Area Development magazine.

Georgia is the only state in the nation to earn this rank for ten consecutive years.

“Area Development’s 2023 Top States for Doing Business rankings are based on scores from approximately 50 leading site consulting firms from across the U.S. in 14 categories,” Governor Kemps's office said in a release.

Georgia placed in the top ten in all 14 categories and earned the number one spot in seven classifications. As well as claiming the number one overall spot.

“For ten straight years, the people who help businesses choose where to make long-term investments have repeatedly said Georgia is the best state in the nation for opportunity,” Kemp said. “Despite the unprecedented challenges we've seen in recent years, men and women across Georgia continued putting in countless hours of hard work for their communities. Thanks to their efforts, we've brought record-breaking jobs and investments to all four corners of the state, especially to rural Georgia.”

Georgia also earned the number one ranking for its workforce development program “Georgia Quick Start.”

“Georgia sits atop the list of states with the best workforce training opportunities," Area Development Staff Editor Steve Kaelble said. “At the heart is the state’s Quick Start program. It’s offered through the Technical College System of Georgia and delivers customized training targeted at new and expanding businesses. Companies in manufacturing, biotechnology, information technology, and other sectors need tech-savvy workers with specific skills, and this program has helped attract those businesses to Georgia.”

The Top States for Doing Business Survey for 2023 is Area Development's 14th annual edition of the series.
