Softball: EaFo, NHall take region wins; Buford clinches 8-7A title

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — East Forsyth maintained at least a share of first place in Region 8-4A with a 5-0 win over East Hall on Tuesday

Cadence Alberty scattered three hits and struck out 10 batters to get the win for the Lady Broncos (17-7, 14-2 Region 8-4A).

It was a tight affair as East Hall's Amari Burce held East Forsyth scoreless into the fourth. The Lady Broncos scored one in the fourth to grab the lead and then four in the fifth to break it open.

Alberty and Reagan Bennett each had two hits and one RBI for East Forsyth.

Burce gave up eight hits, walked two, and struck out four in six innings. Only three of the runs were earned.

The Lady Broncos next will take on Seckinger at home on Thursday.


BUFORD  19,
MILL CREEK 5 (6 inn)

The Lady Wolves clinched Region 8-7A championship with a huge win on the road on Tuesday.

Buford (22-0, 12-0 Region 8-7A) blasted five home runs and pounded 21 hits overall. Despite the lopsided score, Buford led by just two runs going into the fourth inning. 

The Lady Wolves, however, got going in the fourth, playing 5 runs, including a two-run single from senior Adriana Martinez, a two-run homer from sophomore Summer Castorri and an RBI single from senior Madison Pickens.

Buford blew the game open with a 7-run sixth, capped off by Castorri's second home run of the night and Pickens' second home run of the game. Pickens had perhaps her best game of the season, going 4 for 4, with 4 RBIs and 4 runs scored. 

Sophomore Caroline Stanton earned her 10th win of the season in the circle, striking out 4 batters in five innings. Senior Emma Grace Williams entered the game in relief of Stanton in the sixth inning, striking out the side to close out the run-rule shortened contest.


NORTH HALL 16,
CEDAR SHOALS 0 (3 inn)

The Lady Trojans moved into fourth place in Region 8-4A with their third straight region win.

North Hall  (16-7, 10-6 Region 8-4A) scored seven runs in the first and nine in the second.

Next up for North Hall is a huge game against Madison County on Thursday at home.
