COMMERCE, Ga. – Commerce took care of business Friday night as they shut out Athens Christian, 39-0.
Terrence Burch got the scoring started midway through the first quarter on a 70-yard touchdown. Just seconds later, Ty Sorrells stepped in front of an Athens Christian pass and returned it 35 yards for a pick-six, making the score 13-0. Jacari Huff then sprinted 41 yards after another Sorrells interception to push the score to 20-0.
Burch found his second score of the night midway through the second on an 8-yard push, giving the Tigers a 27-0 lead at halftime. Sorrells rushed in from one yard out in the third quarter, while Jace Lyle scored late in the game to get to the final score.
The Tigers will travel to the Granite Bowl next week for a matchup with Elbert County.
