The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced the appointment of Mike England to Colonel and director of the Law Enforcement Division (LED).
Col. England assumes the role following the vacancy created by former Col. Thomas Barnard’s appointment to the position of Deputy Commissioner of Georgia DNR.
A release from Commissioner Walter Radon's office praises Col. England for his work, and says he provides more than 30 years of experience to the post.
Col. England began his career with the Law Enforcement Division of DNR as a Game Warden in Richmond County in 1991. From 2001 to 2003, he rose quickly through the ranks, being promoted to Corporal, Sergeant, and Captain of Special Projects.
England then moved to the Wildlife Resources Division (WRD), overseeing the Licensing and Boat Registration Unit. In 2010, he moved back to Law Enforcement as Captain over Special Projects and climbed to the position of Major of Special Operations in 2019.
In September of 2021, he was named assistant director of the Law Enforcement Division and received the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Col. England resides in Oconee County with his wife Amber and their three children.
