Murrayville man arrested on felony warrant for sexual exploitation of children

A Murrayville man was arrested over the weekend from a 2021 felony warrant for sexual exploitation of children following a cyber tip from the NCMEC.

Investigators with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office received a cyber tip in January 2021 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, according to authorities. The tip indicated pornographic media of children had been shared via Facebook Messenger from an account in Hall County.

Several weeks later, in February 2021, investigators served a search warrant at a house where the suspect, Jose Abraham Lopez-Lucas, 25, of Murrayville, lived. Lopez-Lucas denied having anything to do with the sent messages at that time. His phone was seized, processed and found to have exploitative material on it, authorities said Monday.

A warrant was later issued in October 2021 for Lopez-Lucas’ arrest, but by that time, the suspect had reportedly moved away from the original residence.

Patrol deputies with Hall County were called to a home Saturday for reports of “a drunken man refusing to leave a residence,” reports said. Upon arrival, deputies identified the man as Lopez-Lucas, who still had an active felony warrant.

Lopez-Lucas was also cited for criminal trespass in connection with the disturbance of the residence on Jerry Burruss Road.

The suspect was booked into the Hall County Jail Sunday morning where he remains without bond as of the last report.
