Girls basketball: Dawson rallies past Lambert; Chestatee opens with win; Johnson beats WHall; LCA falls in tourney finals

COAL MOUNTAIN, Ga. — Dawson County used a 20-7 fourth quarter to rally for a 56-45 road win over Lambert on Saturday in the Raider Classic at North Forsyth High School.

Abby Slaton poured in 21 points for the Lady Tigers (3-0) and Eva Bishop added 11 points. Jaci Wilson and Anna Ayers each had 8 points for Dawson County.

The Lady Tigers next will take the North Forsyth-Horizon Christian winner in the semifinals on Monday.

Every player scored for the Lady War Eagles on Saturday in the opening round of the Jackson EMC Tipoff Classic at The Arena in Jefferson. 

It was the Lady War Eagles season opener. They will be back in action on Monday in the semifinal round against the Banks County-Calhoun winner. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.

Senior West Georgia commit Riley Black had a huge game with 19 points and 16 rebounds to pace the Lady War Eagles. Caroline Bull added 18 points for Chestatee.


JOHNSON 38,
WEST HALL 29

The Lady Knights moved to 2-1 on the season after holding off the rival Lady Spartans on the road on Friday night.

It was a tigh game early on as they play to a 9-9 tie after the first quarter. Johnson opened up a 20-16 lead by halftime and took a 30-25 advantage into the fourth quarter. But the Lady Knights held West Hall (0-2) to just a pair of Kihanna Rich field goals over the final 8 minutes.

Destiny Ramirez paced Johnson with 14 points, 8 coming in the second half. Marijane See had 12 points for the Lady Knights.

Yatsar Matos led West Hall (0-2) with 14 points, all coming in the first half. Rich added 8 points and Cayla Radich 7 for the Lady Spartans.

Johnson will be back in action on Tuesday at home against Franklin County.

ST. JOHN BOSCO ACADEMY 43,
LANIER CHRISTIAN 36

The Lady Lightning fell in the championship game of the Southern States Christian Classic. Early foul trouble doomed LCA (2-3) , who had several players foul out.

Emma Flowers led all scorers with 14 points for LCA. Jia Thapar chipped in 8 points for the Lady Lightning.

Flowers was named 1st Team All Tournament and Ellie Roberts got 2nd Team All Tournament honors.

LCA is off until taking on Lakeview Academy on Nov. 28.
