Levi Walker, Jr., more commonly known as former Atlanta Braves mascot Chief Noc-A-Homa, passed away Friday afternoon at the age of 81.
A social media post from the Chief Noc-A-Homa fan page made the announcement just after 2 p.m. Friday.
"The man, the legend and great warrior of my life has crossed over to paradise with full restored health," the post reads. "He is dancing in the sky and free of pain."
According to a report from Atlanta News First, Walker was hospitalized in July 2022 due to declining health.
Walker portrayed Chief Noc-A-Homa for the Braves for about 20 years from the late 60s until 1985 at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium. He was given the role after he approached the Braves about having a real Native American portray the chief.
