White County Fire Services responded to four structure fires over Thanksgiving and into the weekend, none of which resulted in injuries.

The first fire occurred Thanksgiving morning. White County Fire Services and  Cleveland Fire Department were dispatched to the 100 block of Emerald Heights Circle at about 9 a.m. to a residential fire.

Upon arrival, fire personnel found a two-story home, with smoke coming out from under the eaves, according to a release from the department. It was determined that the fire was contained in one room within the structure, but the home received significant smoke damage. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

White County Fire Services responded to a mobile home fire in the area of Lewis Drive off of Duncan Bridge Road in Cleveland Sunday at 9 a.m. Prior to first responders arriving, White County 911 Dispatch was able to confirm with the caller that the residence was clear of all occupants. Once fire personnel arrived, they discovered the mobile home was fully involved in the fire, and a brush fire was spreading behind the structure.

The Helen Fire Department aided their efforts. Georgia Forestry also responded due to the extent of the brush fire. Fire personnel were able to save five dogs whose pen had begun to be consumed by the fire, and the brush fire was quickly contained.

White County EMS responded to the scene and evaluated two patients. Neither of them were transported to the hospital. White County Emergency Management’s Community Emergency Response Team also responded with their Rehab truck to aid firefighters in recovery from fighting fire. The mobile home was declared a total loss.

The department was called to a commercial structure fire near the 1700 block of Holiness Campground Road in Cleveland Monday morning just after midnight after receiving reports that flames were visible and coming from the office building adjacent to a local sawmill.

Once on scene, fire personnel discovered an office building and an adjacent truck on fire. The fire was quickly contained and prevented from spreading to two nearby structures.

The Cleveland Fire Department responded, acting in mutual aid. White County Emergency Management’s Community Emergency Response Team responded with their Rehab truck to aid firefighters in recovery from fighting fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Additionally, the department responded to a residential fire in the area of Hugh Self Road in Cleveland Monday at 3:30 a.m.

Initial reports to White County 911 Dispatch claimed that flames were visible and everyone was out of the home. Once on scene, fire personnel found a fire mostly contained to the chimney. Once the fire was extinguished, crews remained on the scene to check for hotspots and to prevent re-ignition. White County EMS and the Cleveland Fire Department also responded.
