THOMASTON, Ga. — Georgia High School Association executive director Robin Hines told the Executive Committee on Wednesday that he plans to step down following the current school season.
Hines said his final day would be Aug. 1, 2024, but he also stated he would be flexible in staying on "a little longer" if needed to make the transition smoother for whomever takes over as incoming Executive Director.
He made the announcement at the end of an executive committee meeting following the Committee's ratification of reclassification for the 2024-26 seasons.
Hines is one of just six executive directors in GHSA history since forming in 1946. Sam Burke (1946-81), Bill Fordham (1982-91), Tommy Guillebeau (1992-2000), Ralph Swearngin (1991-2013) and Gary Phillips (2014-16) all held the post.
It has become a tougher job of late. The first four directors spanned 67 years. The GHSA will look now be looking for its third Executive Director in the last 10 years.
