A Hall County Magistrate Court judge has announced his candidacy for a Hall County State Court judgeship in 2024.

Andy Maddox announced his candidacy Monday. He will be seeking the seat left vacant by John Breakfield, who is running for a superior court seat.

Maddox has lived in Gainesville for the last 30 years. He graduated from Campbell University in 1989 and has previously worked as a private attorney and a public defender before becoming a magistrate court judge.

“I have a long history of experience serving this community, and a track record that proves my dedication to the rule of law and fundamental fairness,” Maddox said in a statement Monday. “I know Hall County, I care about the people here, and I will leverage my experience across the court system in a way that truly honors this position. I am running for State Court to give back to this community that I love.”

Maddox will face fellow Hall County Magistrate Court Judge Brian Heck in the 2024 non-partisan election.
