GAINESVILLE, Ga. — The 64th Lanierland Tournament finals are set and will begin Friday night at 6 p.m. at Johnson High School.
The consolation rounds began this morning at 9.
The North Hall girls (9-3) rallied past Chestatee (8-3), 50-39, in the second half to earn their fourth straight trip to the Lanierland finals on Thursday at Lakeview Academy. The Lady Lions (10-0) had no issues moving on to their first finals since 2021 in a blowout win over top-seeded Gainesville, 63-36.
It'll be the second time in two years Lakeview and North Hall have met in the finals. The Lady Trojans knocked off Lakeview, 60-55, in the 2021 Lanierland finals. Lakeview has never won a title. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Cherokee Bluff boys (9-4) got rid of the semifinals curse as they needed overtime to knock off North Hall (5-9), 72-69, to advance to their first finals since 2020. They'll face Gainesville (2-9), who knocked off Flowery Branch (4-10), 77-49.
Bluff and Gainesville met in last year's semifinals. Gainesville has won the last six of seven titles and has made the finals the last eight years. Game is set to tip off at 7:30 p.m.
