GAINESVILLE, Ga. — East Hall rallied from a two-goal deficit to beat East Forsyth 3-2 in overtime in a crucial Region 8-4A match for both teams Tuesday at Half-mile High Stadium.

It was the second straight one-goal loss for East Forsyth (6-4, 3-3 Region 8-4A) which dropped into sixth place in the standings. East Hall (9-2, 5-1 Region 8-4A) remained within one-half game of first place with the victory.

The Vikings offense, led by Yerli Mejia, Johnathan Torres, and Eden Castrejon kept the Broncos under pressure but were unable to break through as East Forsyth went into the half up 1-0 with a goal in the 20th minute

East Forsyth continued to vy for the upset win over the eighth-ranked Vikings taking a 2-0 lead in the 43rd minute. From there, however, the East Hall offense got going.

In the 48th minute, Miguel Dominguez found the back of the net off a Oscar Barcenas assist to cut the lead to 2-1. East Hall continued to apply pressure but still trailed into the waning seconds of the match. Ainor Romero-Turcios was fouled just outside of the box and Amado Valladarez drilled a rope of a shot that deflected off the bottom of the cross bar and into the net to tie the game with just 12 seconds remaining in regulation.

Eight minutes into the first overtime Dominguez struck again off a Mejia pass to give East Hall its only lead of the night and the Vikings were able to hold on in the second overtime.

East Hall stays on the road on Friday traveling to No. 4 Chestatee in another monster region matchup.
