The Georgia Department of Education recognized 14 Northeast Georgia students as 2023 Georgia Scholars Monday.
Collectively, GDOE selected 154 students across the state to be named Georgia Scholars, according to officials; however, 14 of those students came from schools in Barrow, Forsyth, Gwinnett, Habersham, Hall, Jackson and Lumpkin counties.
“These 154 Class of 2023 seniors worked hard, became leaders in their schools and communities, and took advantage of opportunities offered in Georgia Public Schools,” Superintendent Woods said in a release. “ I wish them continued success as they embark on their futures, including plans for after high school and beyond. I know they’ll continue to make us proud.”
Georgia Scholars are selected by GDOE. Students must achieve excellence in school and community life through the Georgia Scholar Program to be selected. Students who are selected as Georgia Scholars will recieve a seal on their diplomas when they graduate, officials said.
